While you're already here

Just to make living a little easier

We know that adjusting to a new culture and environment can be challenging at first. To help you settle in, we’ve gathered information on the most essential topics:

  • completing your address registration (Zameldowanie),
  • securing your mandatory PESEL number,
  • navigating medical care in Poland,
  • finding your way at the CUT,
  • discovering Kraków.

Consider this your roadmap for a successful and legal stay in Poland!

TAKE THESE STEPS TO SAVE YOUR TIME

Grab a local SIM card

Get a SIM card from a local mobile operator and register it with your passport. This will give you immediate access to the internet, necessary apps and the Polish phone number you’ll need for banking.

Register Your Address (Zameldowanie)

Register your address at the Kraków City Hall (Urząd Miasta). You will be automatically assigned a PESEL number, your official Polish ID number, which will be extremely useful for further administrative matters.

Open Polish bank account

Opening a local bank account allows you to easily set up a Profil Zaufany (Trusted Profile). This secure digital tool lets you safely handle official matters online.

To help you get settled, here are three simple steps you can take during your first few days. Handling them early will give you peace of mind and make the rest of your transition smooth and easy!
